Ever Smile Furniture is an Australian furniture retailer with showrooms in Sydney and Melbourne and an e-commerce store carrying over 800 products. The range covers bedroom suites, dining sets, sofas, office furniture, and home décor. From gas-lift bed frames and sintered stone TV units to marble desks and custom dining sets, the product mix serves a broad market at a premium price point.
The brand had invested heavily in Meta and Google Ads and built up a solid following, but visitors were not turning into buyers. Aus Asia Online joined in August 2025 to fix the root cause, not the symptoms.
Thousands spent on ads. A website that was not converting.
Ever Smile Furniture had an active ad presence managed by a separate agency when Aus Asia Online joined in August 2025. Significant budget was going into Meta Ads and Google Ads every month. The traffic was there. The sales were not. A full website audit made the reason plain: a WordPress build loading in over 10 seconds was eating the return on every ad dollar spent.
WordPress site loading in 10+ seconds, well above the critical threshold
High bounce rate driven by slow page loads on mobile and desktop
Thousands of dollars monthly in ads with poor conversion to sales
Google Ads ROAS stuck at 3.71x despite significant spend
Meta Ads ROAS at just 2.46x, well below its potential
800+ products with inconsistent URLs and poor SEO structure
No keyword strategy or content structure across product categories
Google Merchant Centre not fully optimised for Shopping ads
The core problem: The ad accounts were sending quality traffic to a site that could not hold it. Slow page loads pushed a large share of visitors away before a product page finished loading, making every ad dollar less effective than it should have been.
A website too slow to convert
Google PageSpeed Insights put the WordPress site firmly in the danger zone, with load times consistently above 10 seconds. Google's own research shows that pages taking longer than three seconds lose more than half their mobile visitors. For a furniture retailer selling high-value products, each abandoned session was a lost sale.

SEO first. Migration second. Performance compounding from there.
The campaign ran in two phases. Phase one built SEO foundations on the existing WordPress site and made the case for a platform change. Phase two executed the full Shopify migration and optimised the new store for organic search and paid conversion.
Full Audit, SEO Setup & Issue Identification
Our team ran a full website audit and mapped 20 primary keywords to product and category pages. We reviewed Google Search Console, GA4, and Google Merchant Centre and set each up correctly. A crawl identified broken links, duplicate content, and canonical tag issues across the site. We audited the robots.txt file, checked the XML sitemap, and ran a Core Web Vitals baseline measurement to document the starting performance. The WordPress page speed issue stood out immediately as the critical problem, and we recommended a move to Shopify from day one.
SEO Growth Phase on WordPress
On-page SEO improvements rolled out across product and category pages, including meta title and description rewrites for all key pages. We applied canonical tags to resolve duplicate URL issues, optimised image alt text across the product catalogue, and ran a structured data audit on the existing WordPress pages. Internal linking was strengthened, backlink outreach started, and keyword tracking was expanded. The client received a full platform migration proposal with the business case laid out clearly.
Migration Decision & Shopify Build Begins
The client approved the migration. We started building the new Shopify store immediately, mapping the full SEO architecture before writing a single line of code: URL structure, category hierarchy, product page templates, schema markup, and internal linking all planned upfront. The XML sitemap structure and robots.txt configuration were planned for the new platform. GA4 e-commerce tracking and Open Graph meta tags were scoped and documented. Our team cleaned all 800+ product records and prepared them for import.
Full Build, Product Import & Pre-Launch Testing
We migrated all 800+ products to Shopify with optimised titles, descriptions, and meta data. Our team built and refined a custom Shopify theme and structured all product images, variants, and collections. Product schema markup was implemented across all product pages, including BreadcrumbList and Organisation schema. Canonical tags were applied to every page. The XML sitemap was generated and validated. robots.txt was configured correctly. GA4 e-commerce tracking was set up and tested within Shopify. Open Graph meta tags were applied across all page types. The Google Merchant Centre feed was reconfigured. Pre-launch Core Web Vitals testing and a Google Rich Results Test validation cleared the site for go-live.
Shopify Launch & Close Monitoring
The new Shopify website went live in the first week of December 2025. The XML sitemap was resubmitted to Google Search Console immediately after launch. We monitored index coverage daily to track how quickly Google picked up the new URLs and confirmed all old URLs redirected correctly. Our team validated structured data on the live site using Google's Rich Results Test and confirmed Core Web Vitals passed on both mobile and desktop. Google Merchant Centre reapproved the Shopping feed within days of launch.
Growth Phase: Organic and Paid Gains
Rankings climbed quickly on the new platform. We monitored Core Web Vitals monthly and tracked index coverage growth in Google Search Console. Rich results performance was reviewed in GSC to measure structured data impressions and click-through from product schema. An image sitemap was added for the product catalogue. Crawl stats were analysed to confirm no unexpected drops. SEO content, backlink building, and category page optimisation continued through to campaign close in February 2026.
1,791 keywords. ROAS nearly doubled. Website finally converting.
By February 2026, six months into the campaign, Ever Smile Furniture had 1,791 keywords tracked in Semrush's position monitoring tool, up from 388 in August 2025. More to the point, the website was converting the paid traffic that had been arriving all along. Google Ads and Meta Ads ROAS both improved sharply once Shopify replaced the slow WordPress platform.
The Website Was the Problem, Not the Ads
The audit did not find a keyword gap or a missing backlink. It found a WordPress site taking over 10 seconds to load. Google expects pages to load in under three seconds. Shoppers give even less grace than that. Every extra second cost the business real money, quietly, month after month. The ad accounts were working. The website was undoing that work.
After the migration to Shopify in December 2025, load times dropped sharply. The Shopify theme was built for performance from the ground up, with image compression, lazy loading, and clean code replacing the bloated WordPress installation. The same visitors who had been bouncing started buying.
💡 Key insight: A faster website does not just help SEO. It multiplies the return on every ad dollar already being spent. Ever Smile Furniture had quality traffic arriving every day. The site kept sending it away. Fixing the platform unlocked the value that was already there.
Paid Advertising Returns: August 2025 vs February 2026
Meta and Google Ads were managed by a separate agency throughout the campaign. Aus Asia Online's contribution was the website. The figures below compare August 2025, the campaign start month on the slow WordPress site, against February 2026, two months after Shopify launched. Same budgets. Same agency. Completely different results, because the platform could finally do its job.

Ahead of every key competitor on tracked terms
Semrush's competitive analysis for eversmilefurniture.com.au identified the top organic competitors in the furniture and bedroom category. The domain gained search presence across all key product categories between August 2025 and February 2026, with consistent upward movement across tracked terms.
The biggest remaining opportunities at campaign close sat in high-volume broad terms. "Bedroom suites" attracts 4,400 monthly searches and "bedroom set bedroom" attracts 6,600. Both had the domain ranked in the 40–50 range with clear upward movement by February 2026.

Six months. A website that finally works. ROAS almost doubled.
Ever Smile Furniture came to Aus Asia Online with a straightforward problem: traffic but no sales. The site ran on WordPress and took over 10 seconds to load. Ad spend went in every month. Conversions did not come out. Three months of SEO work ran in parallel while Aus Asia Online made the case for a platform change. In October 2025, the client approved the move. By December, a new Shopify store carrying 800+ products was live.
By February 2026, Google Ads ROAS had climbed from 3.71x to 6.70x. Meta Ads ROAS went from 2.46x to 6.2x. Organic keywords grew from 388 to 1,791, a 361% increase in six months. The domain picked up 13 Google AI Overview appearances, up from one at the start of the campaign.
